STUDY: Facebooking Leads To Sex, Faster

Skip the  flowers, guys: If you want to better your chances of getting a woman in the sack, maybe all you have to do is Facebook her.
Shape and Men’s Fitness found that 58 percent of men surveyed by the magazines said flirting over Facebook, texts, and chat helps them get women into bed sooner. Likewise, 80 percent of the women surveyed said that relationships lead to sex quicker today because it’s easy to stay connected.
There’s evidence that both genders are satisfied with the end result of techie flirting — almost half of the 1,200 women and men who participated in the survey describe their sex lives as amazing compared with 21 percent last year.
But there’s a caveat to all this, and I’m sure it’s something you’ve probably experienced yourself : The intimacy you have on Facebook with a potential mate can be pretty short lived. A virtual poking war is fun at first, but doesn’t necessarily translate into a healthy relationship if you never move beyond that.
I remember playing Facebook scrabble with a guy I liked, and would get excited when he’d respond right away to a word I played. Now keep in mind, I never dated this guy, and we didn’t actually speak to each other. The extent of our relationship never went beyond the word game online.
Psychologist Dr. Dorree Lynn echoes that sentiment. She says social media is actually “fostering a sense of faux intimacy” among couples. She told ABC News:
It’s easier to hop into bed than have a relationship. It’s all a function of the fast-paced world we live in, where communication skills, genuine communication skills, which means face-to-face communication, are quickly going by the wayside.
I agree with Lynn that Facebook and social media in general can make someone feel like they share a deeper connection with the object of their affection, but I think this happens only if they are communicating more online than in real life. There are plenty of examples where Facebook has helped bring couples closer together. Plus, Facebook statuses seem to be increasingly used by couples to “publicly” display feelings of affection. How is that faux intimacy?
Do you think Facebook has helped or hurt your sex life? Do you find yourself more active on Facebook when you’re in a relationship, or single?

Oldboy' Filmmaker Creates Movie with iPhone

CANVAS STAFF REPORTS) - A South Korean filmmaker has debuted what is believed to be the first cinema-standard movie shot on an Apple iPhone.
PC Magazine reported that Park Chan-wook, director of the movies "Oldboy" and "Mother," shot the 30-minute fantasy-horror film "Paranmanjang" ("Ups and Downs" in English) on his iPhone 4.
The movie cost $130,00 to make. Park and Korea Telecom, South Korea's exclusive iPhone carrier, funded it as a promotion for the carrier.
Park, the Wall Street Journal reported, did everything including hunting for a film location and shooting auditions on the iPhone. He worked with his younger brother Park Chan-kyong, a media artist, on the project.
The movie is a story that starts with a middle-aged fisherman. He catches the body of a woman and, as he tries to get his line loose, becomes more tangled up.
He faints just to wake up in the white clothes of the woman. The story becomes one of life and death from a Korean point of view as the movie's point of view shifts to the woman.
Discovery News said the movie took 80 people and 10 days to create.
Park used two iPhones, shooting scenes simultaneously from different angles, while staffers also used their own iPhones.
"Some of them had an unexpectedly interesting angle," Park told Discovery News.
The Wall Street Journal said the quality of the cinematography was good other than some shakiness in the beginning. The screen is course, but that works with the film's life-and-death theme, the publication stated.
PROne, Park's agent, said the movie would be the first one filmed on an iPhone to be shown in cinemas when it opens in South Korean theaters on Jan. 27
The San Francisco Chronicle detailed other creative attempts such as a short film, "Apple of My Eye," shot by University of Southern California's School of Cinematic Arts master's candidate Michael Koerbel. The film, also shot on an iPhone 4, shows a grandfather daydreaming about his toy train collection.
The newspaper said Apple's iMovie, its video-editing program, has been released for the iPhone and at a cost of $4.99 is now Apple's App Store's third-highest-grossing application.

THE FUTURE OF PORN: 3D

Lance Johnson, a movie producer from Southern California, doesn't mince words when explaining his enthusiasm for 3-D. "Avatar was a total game changer," he says. "The film's success exposed a lot of people to the magic of today's 3-D technology. Seeing is believing." Johnson, who looks like a bespectacled and less buff Fabio, may have been inspired by Avatar, but the movies he makes couldn't be more different from James Cameron's mainstream epic. He's a producer and the president of Bad Girls in 3D, a company that distributes hard-core porn videos with titles like What My Baby Wants and Girlfriends Are a Good Thing.

Last January, Bad Girls in 3D made a splash at the Adult Entertainment Expo in Las Vegas, where the company unveiled its new home entertainment system, which includes a 60-inch Mitsubishi 3-D-ready HDTV and shutter glasses and provides a gateway to 3-D adult content that can be downloaded from the Bad Girls website. Costing just under $4,000—and that's before the $20 monthly subscription fee for the actual porn—it's not cheap by anybody's standards, but Johnson isn't worried that consumers will be scared away by the hefty price tag. "3-D," he says confidently, "is the future of porn."

Women in Their 40s Most Likely to Have Sex on First Date

Women in their 40s are more likely to go all the way on a first date than their younger counterparts.

We have known this all along but here are some studies to prove it ( studies not done in Boise). A survey of 1,400 women between the ages of 20 and 49 by Men's Health found that 29 percent of 40-somethings will have sex on the first date if the chemistry is right. That's opposed to 28 percent of women in their 30s and only 17 percent of ladies in their 20s.

Perhaps this is because the older ladies just enjoy sex more: 86 percent of women in their 40s reported having an orgasm during their last sexual encounter, whereas only 48 percent in their 30s and 38 percent in their 20s had.

I also wondered if maybe the older women are more likely to be honest and tell the truth for the survey. If  I were to do my own study, women in their 20s would most likely not even have to go on the first date, the first date comes after.

Happy cougar-hunting!

Live-Action Simpsons Sex Tape Coming Soon

Just when you maybe allowed yourself to start thinking "The Simpsons" couldn't get any worse, somebody decided to up and make a live-action pornographic movie starring most of the town of Springfield.

Promising that we've "never seen sex this yellow" (apparently they don't know about our weird jaundice fetish), Full Spread Entertainment is releasing a live-action video of what happens when you take porn actors, smear them with yellow body paint, and tell them to pretend they're the cast of "The Simpsons." (WARNING: Link is to a "Simpsons"-porn site and is NSFW unless you work from home and there's no way your roommates will hear what you're doing in your room.)

On the one hand, gross. On the other hand, what happens to all that paint once it starts getting rubbed around? Can it possibly conceal the douche-y, tribal armband tattoos that seem to plague all male adult film actors?

Also, what role does Moe play in all this? Do we have to see Moe's naked body? If these questions are plaguing you as much as me, I put the SFW version of the trailer on Panda Lounge.

A smartphone that sports a 31 megapixel CMOS full frame sensor. Oh, and it has an interchangeable lens, too, with which you can use the main body as a wireless viewfinder (like the Samsung SH100 paired up with an Android phone).

"BALLER STATUS" Akon Floats in Ballsy Crowd Surfing Stunt

Akon got ball deep at a concert in Africa over New Year's ... seriously -- dude actually climbed inside a giant inflatable ball and rode around in it like a hamster ... on top of a sea of 100,000 adoring fans.

It's pretty incredible ... and not just because of the crowd-surfing bubble of awesomeness --  the whole spectacle was part of a free concert in Senegal on New Year's Eve ... which Akon headlined.

The numbers are rising...

$1 Billion Isn’t Cool. You Know What’s Cool? $50 Billion. Goldman And Facebook Agree.

While everyone has been busy wondering whenFacebook was going to IPO, most were looking past the first question: how is Facebook going to IPO? But not TechCrunch alum Evelyn Rusli and Andrew Ross Sorkin. Tonight the pair are reporting that Goldman Sachs has just led a major new investment in the social network. An investment that values it at a nice round $50 billion. And the likely reason is so Goldman can take Facebook public.
More specifically, Goldman has invested $450 million in Facebook while Russian firm (and current large stakeholder) Digital Sky Technologies threw in another $50 million for a total of $500 million in this round. But the round is more complicated than that as apparently Goldman will be able to unload some of its stake to DST, according to the report.
So is the IPO a done deal? Not exactly. While Facebook itself hasn’t given a timetable for the milestone, many were expecting it to happen in 2011. But more recent indications suggest it will more likely occur in 2012. Facebook, obviously, wants it to happen as late as possible so they don’t have shareholders to answer to. But that’s the thing; with all the investment they’ve taken, and the red-hot activity on the secondary markets, they already do have a lot of shareholders — they just don’t technically have to answer to them.
Yet.
The SEC is said to be looking into whether or not that Facebook is improperly skirting around the rules for going public.
Either way, Goldman looks to make a a good chunk of change before the IPO as well. From the report:
In a rare move, Goldman is planning to create a “special purpose vehicle” to allow its high-net worth clients to invest in Facebook, these people said. While the S.E.C. requires companies with more than 499 investors to disclose their financial results to the public, Goldman’s proposed special purpose vehicle may be able get around such a rule because it would be managed by Goldman and considered just one investor, even though it could conceivably be pooling investments from thousands of clients.
If that doesn’t piss the SEC off too much, that is huge for the firm. They’ll get fees for all of that. But not drawing the further SEC attention will be hard given that Goldman is said to be trying to raise up to $1.5 billion for Facebook from investors at that $50 billion valuation.
Remember that it was barely a month ago when we reported on Accel Partners selling off a big portion of their Facebook stock at a $35 billion valuation. Of course, they made something like a 247x return on that sale, so it’s hard to argue with it. A few weeks later, we noted that Facebook had hit the $50 billion mark in valuation on the secondary markets. With this investment, that valuation has just been validated.
As if The Social Network needed any more buzz leading up to its DVD release next week… Oh andhere’s a little something Facebook could use some of the money on.

I love Mountian Pigs

One of my favorite dishes is a traditional meat cut right off the leg of a pig. Jamón serrano (literally mountain ham) is a type of jamón (dry-cured Spanish ham), which is generally served raw in thin slices, or ocassionaly, diced. The French jambon bayonne and Italian prosciutto crudo are similar. A foreleg prepared in the same manner is called paleta.
